How do i actually play the games on my PS3 on my m7640n HP computer?
-
So i looked up some things for it and it said i could play my PS3 on my computer. (HP m7640n, look it up) I thought huzzah i don't have to buy a compatible TV now. So i plug it all in, the computer does the little hourglass thing when i turn it on, saying that it knows it's there. But i can't find out how to get into it. I've tried going into media center and there's nothing. Ideas?

Answer:
From the mobo specs for that model: "Socket: AM2" That is, AMD single core cpu's, maybe 64 bit, not a Cell. So it won't play ps3 games on the pc itself, if that's what you mean. Also: Composite video in One There would not be composite video in on your computer if there wasn't some kind of capture device or tuner card. Plug the ps3's composite video into that, if you haven't already. If it's not doing anything, it's cause you're not telling the pc to capture the video or pass it through to the screen. A pc like yours probably has some kind of "control center" program, that will bring up a little window with lots of tabs, for capturing video or watching whatever is in the composite input. Look under the start menu, and see if there's anything with the word "capture" or maybe "tv tuner" or "video card" and so forth. Start it up and see. You may have to start up everything you can find, just by trial and error, to find it. Or, go into device manager, and see what kind of capture device it has. The mobo specs said integrated video, which is the same as saying nothing. But device manager would list the manufacturer of the video chipset and input, and you could use that to track down the name of their driver or software. That may be important because it might not have a start menu entry at all. Look in drive_c\programs too. As a last resort, look for a good freeware program for capturing video, it will probably be compatible with the chipset on your mobo. That's because it's Nvidia, I just remembered from the schematic. Keep in mind that after you finally get it working, you're still only gonna get 480i video, cause it's composite. What kind of cable does the TV have? You can likely convert composite to it. All you need is a RF modulator or a composite-to-s-video cable.

hmm..i know there is a cord you have to buy that connects them, but it sounds like you have it. why do you say you dont have to buy a compatible tv? ps3 works on all tvs if it has the RCA slots. if you mean HDTV, you dont need one. HDTV enhances the picture, not the graphics. the incredible graphics you get are straight from the ps3 and are great on any tv
