Sudden Link Cable Box help?

Hdmi cable help needed for ps3 and cable box?

  • i just got a hd cable box installed from comcast. they did not provide me with an hdmi cable so i went ahead and bought a $20 cable from sma's club. the cable is made by Pure A/V, or Belkin in other words. is this cable good enough for my hd cable box or do i have to buy like a 60-100 dollar hdmi cable? will this cable be good for my ps3?

  • Answer:

The HDMI cable you have should be perfectly acceptable. Since HDMI cables are essentially digital, they do not suffer from signal degradation like analog cables when they are of cheaper quality. In my opinion, there is pretty much no reason to purchase one of the excessively expensive HDMI cables. If you're using a component video cable set, that is a different story though. I have a PS3, TiVo Series3 (HD), and a Toshiba HD-A3 player all running 1080i (TiVo) or 1080p (PS3/HDDVD) on a Sharp Aquos LC-52SE94U TV. I'm using the cheap Monoprice HDMI cables, and it looks beautiful still. I find it to be the one area you can go a bit cheaper :)

All HDMI cables are the same, there is no reason to spend more than $20 on one. In fact I bought mine for a lot less at this site, worked great for me so far. http://www.inspiretech.com/c-31-hdmi-cables.aspx

It's all the same. Any HDMI cable that is not defect would be good enough. You needn't worry. The price only depends from what the plate is made of and the length.
