Can I use my computer's hard drive in my ps3?

How do i use a external hard drive as a new hard drive for a PS3?

• I have a 1 TB External Hard Drive and i have already made it a FAT32 format. I made all the folders and stuff so that the PS3 can recognise it as a hard drive, but how do i get it to save its games to the hard drive automatically, thus increasing the room on my PS3? I followed this walkthrough: http://www.wikihow.com/Add-an-External-Hard-Drive-to-a-PlayStation-3 But whenever I turn on the playstation, it still says there is less that 500 MBs left on the HDD. I want to be able to have my games etc save and retrieve automatically from the external hard drive, how do I do this?

  I followed the same instructions on an internal hard drive I had lying around. Everything works fine except that. I have tried and searched everything with no luck. I can save some save files but no game data. Even when I saved the save files the games only search the PS3 for save files.
