Why does my ps3 keep overheating?

Ps3 faults beeps and freeze?

• Hi there i bought a 80gb ps3 in march 09 Its happend a few times now( about 5) when i am playing some games, the whole system freazes up and no buttons on the control will work, I have to keep finger on the power button and then it beeps 3 times and reboots but takes a while. is this normal? Some one said that my system is overheating and i need get a new ps3 before it goes all together, is this true, it is on a tv until well ventalated with an extra fan on the side, ( i have just orderd and underneth fan as well) It shouldnt be over heating i had only been on it a hour or so But on the other had i have also read that its normal and just a reboot so i dont know what to think Can you please advise

  I don't know what is causing it but it happened to mine a few times and it died a few weeks ago (Yellow light of death). the only thing I can think of is to make sure you have your games and stuff backed up to a external drive. B/c if it does die on you :1) What ever disc you have it it will be stuck in there. 2) Sony makes almost no effort to recover your HD data. Even if the hard drive is not the problem. But they will send your game disk back if you tell them it is in there. Now this might go without saying but let me make this clear b/c I almost never hear anyone say this. BACK UP YOUR PLAYSTATION 3 DATA NOW!!!!!!! WHEN/ IF YOUR CONSOLE DIES THERE WILL BE NO WARNING!!!!!!! AND ALL YOUR SAVED GAMES, MUSIC, ETC. WILL BE GONE!! I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to. When I get this PS3 back ($150 repair out of warranty) it will be my 3rd one. I wish we had somewhere to go to raise some Cain over this. Maybe if Sony got some bad press over this like XBox got, they would be more likely to fix the YLOD Maybe something on here will help too P.S. There is a rumor going around that COD: MW2 might be killing systems. It is the game I had in my 80GB PS3
