Xbox 360 question??

HELP!! XBOX 360 TECHNICAL QUESTION RELATED TO HARD DRIVE AND TRANSFERS, AS WELL AS HD COMPONENT?

  • I had the very first released xbox 360, but it started to suck, so I got a new xbox 360 for Christmas. It is the newest model, 250 GB Xbox 360 Slim. My question is, how do i transfer all my stuff over to the new xbox, because the new xbox doesn't have a removable HDD like my old Xbox did. Any suggestions? Is there a device I need to buy? Please help. Also: if anyone knows, will the AV cable that came with my old xbox work in my new xbox slim, and still provide HD content. I'm not sure if it can only use HDMI camble, and going through the process of using an HDMI cable would be very time consuming, because my XBOX is already configured for AV, using all 6 input things. Please help.

  • Answer:

You need to get a Transfer Cable to connect your old hard drive over USB to the new console. It should then walk you through transferring everything over. You will also need to o a license transfer, the steps are at http://www.xbox.com/drm The old HD AV cable will work just fine with the Slim, but you might need to go HDMI to get full 1080p.

first off , the new xbox DO HAVE the removable hard drive, you just didn't find the booklet. and yes the av cable may work, mine did FIRST once you have but in the new hard drive, i would locate THE SERIAL # on your console (how to find it : http://support.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-360/s%E2%80%A6 , as you will need it) go to your system setting and locate the new hard drive and "FORMAT" it ( this way you could skip the "transfer the licenses" step, as the new hard drive will have the serial number of the console embedded/encoded in to it.) using a transfer cable you can move all content to the new hard drive ( but if you have already put any info on it ALL will be erased - if not used no worries ) ( http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/Live/Transfer ) BUT if you use a USB flash drive to move the content, you could keep all the data! ( http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Storage/ ) This method could take a bit longer. Source(s): xbox.com
