My xbox live wont work ?

My xbox live isn't working It says that I can't connect from Internet to xbox live? But it did say I could connect xbox 360 to my wireless connection. Then wireless connection to Internet. Then Internet to xbox live wont work. Please someone help me idk what that even means and how to fix it
