Xbox 360 Live Recover Gamertag?

So, my brother is getting a new 360 today and I'm having the old one, but my brother wants to keep the live account from the old 360. Does Recover Gamertag transfer the profile over to the new xbox and if it does, does it stay there, and what if I delete the profile on my xbox?

Answer:
It will recover a copy of the gamertag from Xbox Live. Right now, it does not recover saves though so if he wants those, he'll need to move them over with a formatted USB drive. You can then delete the copy that's on your 360 if you want to.
