Xbox 360 Controller Won't Sync...?

  • First off.... if you give me the steps to sync a controller to an Xbox 360 controller, I will be forced to hunt you down and slap you in front of your mother. No, I'm not that much of a simpleton that I don't know how to sync my controller to my 360. I have contacted MS with this issue, and unfortunately I've had my 360 too long, and my warranty has run out. In order for them to resolve my problem, they are going to charge me about as much as it would cost to buy a brand new 360 off the shelf, so I basically told them to shove it... ANYWAY, here's the situation: I've had my 360 for almost three years, and it has served me well... until tonight that is. My roommate moved his larger tv into our bedroom, so I decided to move my 360 into there so I wouldn't have to play on my itty bitty 24" television. Since I was moving it away from the router, I wouldn't be able to connect it directly by Ethernet... luckily my other roommate had a wireless adapter for the 360. I got the 360 moved into the bedroom, hooked everything up, including the adapter, and turned on the 360. Everything went smoothly, and it asked for me to configure the adapter, which I figured it would, until I noticed... my controller wasn't sync'd to my 360. No problem I thought, I would just try to re-sync it. Nothing. I turned off the 360, and the controller shut off as well. I disconnected the adapter, and tried turning the 360 on through the Xbox button on the controller - it turned on. I breathed a sigh of relief until I noticed that yet again it still was flashing and unable to connect to the console. Over the course of the last three hours, I have been researching similar issues with other gamers, and tried solution upon solution that was presented to me. My roommate owns a 360 of his own, and my controllers will sync to his instantly; his, however, won't sync to mine either, therefore eliminating the possibility of it being a controller issue. I have tried different power supplies, different power outlets, a very wide range of different combinations of plugging and unplugging cords in different orders, and even dust-cleaned it as well as I could. I even went as far as setting it up back on my crappy tv exactly as it was before all the hassle. Still nothing. For those of you that love your details, the 360 is a black Xbox 360 elite. The controller is one of the official Xbox controllers included with the package, not a knock-off brand. I own a play and charge cord for the system, but it hasn't had any effect either. When I turn the 360 on, either by controller or power button, the system will start off like usual with the circle of lights followed by all of them flashing simultaneously. The controller will simply flash all four quadrants of lights simultaneously the entire time (ALL of the controllers I've attempted to use have done this, not just one). According to the manual, this indicates that the Xbox 360 doesn't have an open port for the controller to connect to, however there are currently no controllers connected to the 360. As mentioned above, I have found many other people with similar issues, but haven't found a stable, set-in-stone fix for this problem. My personal theory, though it is rather far-fetched, is that when I connected the adapter to the 360 it registered it initially as a controller, and now looks for that signature of wireless device to fill the quadrant position. I do not know how this could be the case, nor how I would even begin to fix it. I WOULD like to hear your opinions, and any fixes that you believe will help me. I have a lot of money invested in 360 games, more than I would care to admit, and would VERY much like to be able to play them once again. Thank you! (Especially if you ACTUALLY took the time to read all of this ;))
