How can I get my Xbox Live connection faster so I do not lag?

• So after playing COD since it's release with a really shitty internet service I had, I came to the conclusion that being good at COD is almost more about the connection you have than the skill you have to some degree...I once had a great internet service but switched to a cheaper one, and for the longest time I was getting powned by guys whos KD was nearly twice as bad as mine when my internet connection was ****...and that was most of the time...now I'm back with insight the best service around my area and I live right in the middle of town...I've noticed a huge difference but I still get pretty bad lag at times and I want to have near perfect connection...and thats what I need your alls help with...I dont have much knowledge with how computers and upgrading your connection works...They gave me a standard router and i think that may be the problem...will my connection be really good and consistant if I get a gaming router?...Idk how ports work but ive heard people talk about creating new ports for your router so would that help?...I play on Xbox 360 and I play on a wired connection...I'm the only person in the house that uses the internet and xbox 360...sometimes my mom gets on her Ipad...If you guys have any knowledge on upgrading gaming connection please teach me everything I can to make it as good as it can get...I'll give out a 5 star best answer

  You need to forward ports to get an open NAT, which in turn willgive you a better connection in xbox 360 games. Go To http://portforward.com/, look for the name of your router, then choose xbox live from the list and follow the instructions.
