How to fix Xbox 360 e74 error? ?

  • well I have had my xbox 360 for a few years now, and today when I went to turn it on I discovered that a quarter of the ring was red and flashing and on screen came up a message "e-74 error" does anybody know how to fix this? it would be much appreciated!

    Microsoft tends to cover the repairs for the e74 error in Xbox 360's. Follow the link and allow them to fix it for you......this is the reliable + long term solution unless you wish to open the console yourself which would void your warranty? The error is caused when there's a video problem, either because the audio/video cable is broken or when the Xbox 360 hardware scaler chip is damaged. Hope you manage to resolve the issue.

The E74 system error is due to overheating. This overheating causes the display chip on the motherboard to become defective. There are many fixes spread across the Internet that claim to fix your console. You must be careful when choosing one of these fixes, as some can permanently mess up your console. If you do not have experience with repairing electronics, the fix that I would recommend would be buying a repair guide. You would just have to come up with $30 to gain access to a reliable E74 fix. The fix provided would only take you about an hour to complete, and you don't have to take the risk of not knowing how to properly fix the Xbox 360. If you do have experience in fixing electronics, you could try re-flowing by yourself. Although, I would not recommend this due to the many risks that you run by doing this yourself. Believe me, it is not hard to completely render your console useless while repairing it.
