Help With Astro Gaming Headset?

I bought a set of a30s of my friends for $30 because my turtle beaches just died. can they only function with the Astro Brand mix amp ($140-150) or could i buy Turtle Beaches DDS way cheaper($70). do anyone know if the DDS is compatible for Astro headsets
