Xbox 360 HDMI cable wire?

My red white and yellow wires arent working anymore for my 360. I was going to get a new wire but my friend said to just get an hdmi cable. Would an HDMI cable take place of the red, white, and yellow wires or would i still need that wire to? Also, I have never used an hdmi wire, where on the xbox does it plug into?

The question is "do you have a older or newer xbox?" if you have an old xbox you can't use an HDMI, but as for a new model look online for steps because it's not simple. Second question is "do you have an hookable tv" like do you have a tv with the input for an HDMI cord? If you do, again look on like YouTube or something.

plugs in the back under the normal plug in and no u could throw the others away since hdmi has sound with better video quality then red white and yellow. but the tv needs to also have hdmi support for it to work

HDMI is a single cable instead of using the 3. You need to make sure your TV can support HDMI too. See the link to see what it looks like.
