My hamster's leg is very puffy, please help?

People who have hamsters can you help ?

  • Hey everyone :D I need your help please! I have two hamsters one is male and the other is female . Whenever I put them a little bit close to each other they make sounds like they're fighting and once one of them bight the other one leg . Once I put them together and my mom saw them and she said that they're trying to have children . And I wanted to ask you how do you know that they're not fighting they're just trying to have babies ? is there any signs I should look for ? thank you :)

  • Answer:

When they fight the female will jump at the male and they will literally roll around like a ball. They also make sounds with their teeth(the sound is really electric sounding. It's weird!) If they want to mate, the male will sniff the female, sometimes the other way around, and eventually mount her a few times before they both clean themselves. You can clearly tell the difference!

lol.. ive raised about 10 litters of hamsters, there fiqhtinq if there curled up in a ball with eachother or one is pressed against the cage in an attack mode, there tryinq to make babys if the male gets on top of the female from the back and starts to hump her he miqht bite her back, but hamsters are freaky lil thinqs. once she is preqnant seperate them . and dont be suprised if she eats the babys, this stuff happens. [: & dont disturb them when there getting there freak on ! lol

I have had hamsters for a long time, and when I let my two mate the female immediately posed for the male. She stood still with her back straight & her tail stuck out, to tell the male that she was ready. The male then started to groom the female, and then they mated (: If the female is ready to mate, she will pose and let the male jump on top of her. However if she isn't ready to have babies, she may fight. If this occurs separate them. Hope I helped !

Hamsters tend to fight alot i suggest you keep them away from each other. Only dwarf breed hamsters might be ok with other hamsters but all i know is hamsters are more individual. If you want to keep 2 together i suggest gerbils.
