Is my hamster pregnant? or is she just a regular hamster?

ur hamster would be pregnant if the male was in the same cage, when ever somebody puts a male and female together that are not desexed they female will get pregnant u do nothing until they can eat and drink by them selfs

Hello There! (: There is no 100% way to tell a hamster is pregnant, it's very difficult to tell. But you shouldn't be putting male & female hamsters together anyways, they will definitely mate. Awh, poor male hamster ): you should have separated them from the start, but anyways, let's talk about what's happening now! Yes, pregnant hamsters do indeed drink and eat more, but it could be that she's just thirsty/hungry. But there still is a possibility she is pregnant if she was housed with a male. Now do you have a dwarf or a syrian? You should go ahead and start asking around, if any of your friends are willing to give your hamster babies a home (just in case pregnant) so that you won't have to buy so many cages. But if you have a syrian, it's possible for her to give birth; up to 20+ babies. & a dwarf; up to 16. My dwarf gave birth to 12. So with that said; you should feed your hamster extra protein, just in case she is pregnant. Eggs and bread soaked in milk have lots of protein, and will help her produce lots of milk. Go ahead and super clean her cage/tank right now or in a week, because once she gives birth, you won't be able to clean it for another 3-4 weeks. When she gives birth, don't disturb her and put her in the most quiet and non active room in the house. The only time you should disturb her, is when you are changing her food and water. Otherwise, it may cause unnecessary stress that can cause her to eat her babies (she might think that they are in danger, and eat them). Don't touch the babies until they are about 4 weeks. This is when they are starting to eat hamster food on their own, and running around growing independent. This is also when you should sex all the babies and separate males from females.
