How can you tell if a hamster is pregnant?

Is my hamster pregnant and how can I tell if she is?

  • I just got a hamster a few days ago and I know it's a girl because they told me about 3 months ago she had babies (which she ate them all). After I got her cage set up she began bringing bedding into the place that she sleeps in. I don't know if she's making a nest or just trying to stay comfortable. She is big...but I really don't think she's pregnant. I noticed that she sleeps all day, which I don't know if that's normal. She won't get on her wheel either since she's too fat for it...so does it sound like she is pregnant?

  • Answer:

When my hamster was pregnant she didnt go on her wheel either, since she was too fat. She also put all the bedding into one corner the night before giving birth, to make a nest. Sleeping all day is normal since hamsters are nocturnal. There is a very good chance that she is pregnant.

kali's right.. anywayzz feel her stomach and if it feels like a bubble den congrats if not shes jst chubby :)

Hamsters generally put bedding to wherever they sleep, so that isn't too strange, and they are nocturnal, which means they sleep in the day and are awake at night. If you ask me, I'd say no, she's not pregnant.

some hamsters are really lazy... all my brothers did was eat and sleep and got really fat.... hamsters sleep during the day and are awake at night so its normal... most likely no, not pregnent

They eat the babies if u touch her babies. If you did, you caused their death.
