Why is my male guinea pig so moody?

Why does male guinea pig attack cage mate when I'm around?

• I keep two of the boars in a cage together, they generally get along really well and they don't bother each other, until I open the cage the older one starts chattering his teeth, I know he doesn't really like to be picked up as much, but when I go to pet him in the cage, he'll try and run away and bite the other one. But when the cage is closed, they'll be fine. Why would he attack the other one, when the teeth chattering seems to be aimed at me, to keep away?

  Hi, There could be three possible reasons behind this. 1: Your piggie doesn't seem to be tamed yet. Try feeding him some delicious veggies or fruits from your hand and talk to him quietly. Give him lots of love and handle him often (after 2 days of getting him). 2: Your piggie could be scared of you. Again, try hand feeding him and sit him on your lap while talking to him quietly, pet him gently and do this everyday. 3: He could be jealous and might think that you are going to give the other guinea pig more attention than him. This problem can be resolved by getting a wide basket and by putting a folded towel inside. Place both guinea pigs inside the basket making sure the basket isn't too high and the pigs can see where they are without having to stretch. Place the basket (with pigs inside) on your lap and feed them their favourite fruits or veggies and talk to them gently and pet them. If you don't have a basket, use a box or whatever you think will serve the purpose well. Hope I helped and good luck! :)
