Why is my male guinea pig so moody?

Why is my adult male guinea pig chasing around his son when i put him in the cage with him?

  • My guinea pig gave birth on Dec. 26th 2011 to two babies ones a girl and the other a boy, but I need to split them up soon so I've been putting the boy in with his father but his father chases him around and makes these purring noises and it looks like he's trying to do the dirty with him and I'm not sure why.. Can someone please help me?

  • Answer:

its normal guinea pig behaviour, its called rumblestrutting, hes not literally trying to mate with him, hes trying to show him that hes bigger and the boss of the cage, it will blow over soon.

For example if you meet somebody and you don't like them same is with guinea pig's.probaly they fight for dominace.Or probaly you got mess up and put the female with the farther and he will chase her etc.. but this can lead to extremely stressful for her thus weakening her immune system.

its a dominace thing. as long as you have a c&c cage you should be good
