How old does one have to be to work at Marshalls?

Can a marshalls mansion ferret cage be used for rats?

  • im getting a marshalls mansion ferret cage and i was going to use it for my rats. i was wondering if anyone else had one that they used for rats and if they like the cage in general. even if it doesnt work out for my rats i can use it for my ferret so its a win-win. i would really like to use it for my rats though. i know its going to need some modifying and i am fine with that thats not a problem. i was just wondering if it is going to work as well as i am hoping.

  • Answer:

It's not the best rat cage I've ever seen but they'd be ok in it, for sure. Smaller rats would be able to to escape through the bars and the horizontal bars are too far away for the rats to be able to climb the sides easily, which they love doing. You'd also need to add more shelves and hammocks, etc, and cover the shelves with a solid surface so that the rats don't get bumblefoot. Ferret cages are generally great for rats because of their size. I keep four boys in a Furplast Furet Tower, which is fantastic. Rats and ferrets? Jealousy...

I have never had it but it looks good. You will need to add more shelves to utilize all the space. Small females and baby rats will be able to get out. But if you have adult males or large females it will be a great cage when you add shelves.
