My Best Friend's Guinea Pig Just Died.... How Can I Make Her Feel Better?

  • They had Aerick for 3 days now... Mow my best friend and her mom were in love with it. Like she was so happy she had it. She always told me how he was doing and how cute he is! Now he was 2 years old and they got him from the fair. He was the judges pet who she was selling. They bought him and he was healthy and normal.. Now I was talking to my friend at my house like at 8 30 (it's 9 22 her now) Then her sister calls saying I need my sister over here now! I said whats wrong and she said now!!! Then I told my friend something was really wrong and she needed to go to her house this second... She ran out freaking out. Then a few minutes later I texted her asking whats wrong? She said exactly: it's Aerick he is dying.. dead :( :( oh my god he is frickin dead! Screw me.. I said exactly: What?!? do you need me to come over? Oh my god I am sooooo sorry! She said: He is dead oh my frickin god my guinea pig is dead. I said: Oh my god! Do you guys know how ____ I am so so so so so sorry oh my god! Are you ok :'(? she said: I can't text now... I said: Ok I am sooo sorry is he like completely dead though? No answer for a half an hour... What can I say to her to make her feel better? I feel sooo bad because she loved him so so so so so so so much! What can I do? Should I text back of should I wait till tomorrow and give her space please help! P.S. R.I.P. Aerick

  • Answer:

Let it set for a short time to let the bodily fluids coagulate. Then using a small blade make an incision on the animals belly. Remove the organs. Stuff it with cotton balls or feathers or something and give it to her. Now she can always have it with her in the form of a crudely made stuffed animal. It's way cheaper than going to a real taxidermist trust me. EDIT: I'm sorry but when i read "oh my god he is frickin dead! Screw me." i absolutely lost it. Side note, she shouldn't be so attached to an animal she had for 3 days.

Do not get her another guinea pig, not yet. ("Oh, your mom died, but that's ok because your dad will remarry and you'll have another.") No, it does not work that way. Get her a nice book about pet rodents or something else cute and furry, maybe even horses (my favorite), and let her read it if she wants to, or throw it against the wall if she doesn't. One of the things that the GP will do is to die easily, which is why they have been used as test subjects, and why a person testing out a new machine or whatever is referred to as a GP. Another book she might like is Pigs Is Pigs by Ellis Parker Butler. It was written over 100 years ago, and the language in it is a bit difficult to follow, because it uses dialect that is now out of fashion, but the story is absolutely hilarious. It's available in reprints, or online. See references below.

Ummm you know this is about a guinea pig... Right?

Go to her house tomarrow with a baby guhini pig and give it to her.

Wow, you people are a bunch of heartless a'holes. From your responses it sounds like you guys are a bunch of little kids. To give you a real answer, just be there for her. Give her time, she will start feeling better. A true loving person does get attached to their animals and when they die it hurts. I wouldn't take a baby guinea pig to her unless she knows it's coming. Also, if you want to give her another one, maybe she should go with you and pick it out herself. Maybe think about rescuing one from a shelter. Good luck and I'm very sorry for her loss.

Don't baby her, It might have been a great pet, but really? tell her to suck it up.
