How can i convince my parents to let me get a hamster?!?

  • i'm 14 and i'm not going to lie i'm not always as responsible as i could be, but i have a goldfish at the moment and i've had it for nearly 2 years so i think i'm ready for a pet that i can actually handle and stroke, not just feed it and clean its bowl everyweekend. i've asked a few times before but it's always no, and i've not asked in ages. i really want one, i always have, and i've done the research and looked up everything i'd need and the costs, which i'd pay for as i did for my fish.... how can i convince them or even make them come round to the idea, with out them getting grumpy, and just saying no straight away and making me drop the subject? please help :)

    Say that you need more responsibility. If you have a child, you're going to need to take care of it. And if you get an allowance, say you'll pay for everything for the hamster. That's what I did, and it worked. Also, if they say no, just say that the responsibility would seriously benefit you. And tell them they wouldn't have to do any work at all. And you would clean for it and keep it. Also, if I were to get one, which I did, I would go for a rat. Not an ugly outside rat, a domesticated one. It crawls around you, and it rarely poops on you. As for a hamster, it would probably (depending on which one) will poop on you more and it won't love you as much. Rats are really smart creatures. And make sure to get hay for the hamster that you get, they love it. Just a handful every 2 or so days will make them really happy. It also works for rats. Hope this helped(:

dont get a hamster they smell and they make a mess everywhere and you will soon get sick of it. if you want a pet you should try and convince your parents to get a dog as they can be trained and they will be much more affectionate than vermin

Tell them how much easier a hamster is to look after than other pets, for example, a cat or a dog. Ask them for their reasons for saying no - if they say it would be too expensive with all the housing/food, tell them that you will pay for it yourself and you are willing to help around the house (maybe to earn money, or maybe just to show how responsible you are). So yeah, ask them why they are saying no to a hamster, but they let you have a goldfish. Tell them that looking after a pet helps you to become more responsible :) good luck, I hope that helps them to change their mind :)

tell them that it will make you more responsible and that you have been saving up your money or take the to a pet shop and get on that you can adopt or that has been taken back because then they might feel sorry for you! hope i helped xxx
