How to start a rat rescue?

• I love rats and I know when people down ant them anymore they just let them go outside. I wanted to start a rat rescue for domestic rats. Do I need any permits? I looked everywhere in my town and haven't found any. is there anything else I need to know? It would be basically a none profit organization. thanks for the help!

  i once asked the same question, but for guinea pigs. here was the response: OH how great :) First make a name for you organization or company. Get it assured by the govenor or whoever so when you want to look at peoples houses for abused guinea pigs you can tell them that you have permission. Figure out what youll do with the guinea pigs, are you going to make some type of shelter or what? and if you want the job to be easier get more people to work for you. Also, somehow you will need to know where to look for the guinea pigs. Ask the shelter if you can work for them and do this, or figure out something on your own. -Veda C i hope the woman who helped me helped you :)
