How do you get people to follow you on twitter?

How to get more people to follow me on Twitter?

  • I hit the cap (2001), and I have 615 people following me. I'd like to get at least 2000 people follow me, so I can follow more than 2000 people, but I'm only having around 600-630 followers, it just fluctuates... any ideas?

    Update statuses that people are interested in. One that I see gets a LOT of attention is "#iHatePeopleThat Don't believe in God. RT If you love God!" To me, it kind of makes the audience feel bad and so they retweet the status, which shows it to a whole bunch of other people. Here are some other tips: a.) Don't tweet about ONLY your life. b.) Keep up-to-date with the Trending Topics (TTs). This will help you get more publicity by showing you in the TT Feed. c.) Post some quotes that you find interesting. d.) Ask your current followers to retweet (RT) some of your statuses. e.) @reply / @mention some of your followers and keep them interested! f.) DON'T tweet 24/7, you may loose some followers. g.) Have "mini contests"..! h.) Have fun with your twitter! :D
