Please help..someone is impersonating me in facebook..can anyone help?

So there is this person on facebook that has the same lastname and first name as me. I don't have any mutual friends with them..but you know how on facebook you can send a message to somenelse that you don' t have as a friend...well, yea. They have been sending messages to everyone that i know. Like pretty nasty things. They're are insulting some of my good friends and they thinl that it's me. Some even deleted their friends list from me and some are out there to get me...like they wanna beat me up or something because of the things that were said to them by this impersonator. Due that i had to permantely delete my facebook account because i counldn't stand the embarrasment and humiliation. I also reported it to facebook and i don't think they'll do anything about it. My reputation is on the line here...so please tell me what i can i do because i can't just sit here and watch this person destroy my life! Is there anyways that they could be treacked down? also can this be reported to the authority? i mean isn't it a felony? please help! i'm so worried that this person might do something even worst.
