How do I add people as friends?

Would it be appropriate to add people from my internship as my facebook friends?

• For the past few weeks this summer I worked as an intern in a great department. The people there were very friendly, and the internship was great. The director of the department was pretty young and fun, and she was often talking about things she had posted on her facebook page or pictures her facebook friends had posted. I go to school in a different state, so I would really like to add the director and a few of the other people I worked with so that I can stay in touch with them. I've only known these people for about a month, and I'm using the director as a reference for future internships and job applications. Would it be inappropriate for me to add her and some of her employees as my facebook friends?

  I wouldn't because, if the people at work that you added to your page see's something they don't like on your page, or who you have on your friend list, or agree with, then that person will get you fired. This is not like 20 years ago where you can meet coworkers and become great friends with them. Nowadays hanging out with your coworkers whether you're on your own time and off company property, or whether on Facebook, or Myspace, or in real life can really affect your job. So if you want to keep your job never ever ever have anything to do with your coworkers unless it's strictly work related and pertaining to the company. And don't even associate with them on your own time or even off company property either. Trust me because that coworker can and will get you fired.
