Facebook notifications not showing up?

I'm on Facebook. I click the Notification icon in the top left by the Facebook logo and keep getting a prompt that reads: "No new notifications." At the bottom of that there is a button to "See All Notifications" -- it's the one I click to actually see the new notifications that aren't showing up. What's going on?!
