How do you go online to Facebook Chat without people seeing you online?

  • The first few weeks I was on Facebook, I would go into a group chat and I could participate and see the chat (not message) without people seeing that I was online (green dot did not show up). I also could not see who was online, either. I messed with the availability settings with the chat so I'm "normal" and now I can't go "offline" and still participate in the chat. Was that just a glitch? If not, how do I make it so I can chat and not be "online"?

    I dont think you can do that unless you message someone, I tried getting on chat once while offline but it woul not let me see who was online. I hope I helped though!

You click on "Chat" in the bottom-right corner of your screen, click the gear, click "Available to Chat" and then the check mark will disappear and it will say you are offline. You can chat with someone while offline by just going to "Messages" and messaging there while your offline. :) ~Let me know if you have any questions! ^_^

i know on yim you can do this idk about facebook, but try going invisable? if you cant then its impossible
