How does Facebook decide what's top news?

Whats with all these pictures of cancer kids, etc on facebook lately?

  • lately ive been seeing in my facebook that people like pictures of kids/babies with cancer, genetic disorders, abortions etc and it shows the pics on my news feed. whats up with the sudden surge of pics, sure i feel sorry for them but i dont like to see this on my feed so constantly. im just wondering why they appear alot more now. i will prolly just stay off of facebook for a while and get a life.lol.

    Yeah. There's also been lots of animal abuse pictures.. Think about it this way: If I tell John about Mary John will tell his friends who will relate to that story and talk about Annie, Jane and Patricia to John who will tell lots of people, just like John's friends. Sort of like a rumor.

It's probably just a new trending way of getting likes, It's like how everyone posts "truth is" all over the place and "like for a rate." It might go away soon but they're probably just being posted for attention unfortunately.
