Facebook friend request...?

I know when one request friendship they will show up on their profile ... yesterday i requested and it doesnt show on mine--- (hes a friend of a friend) so when i look at 'our' friends profile its showing the requested friends pic and says 'request pending' why isnt it showing up on MY profile? the requeated persons profile is private perhaps thats the reason why its like this? i'm thinking its a fluke with facebook at this time... this hasn't happened before. thanks to all who answer : )

The persona hasn't yet confirmed you friend request as it is pending. He will show up in your profile only after he accepts your request...
