Why cant i log in to Facebook?

everytime i try to log in i get this message "Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience." I've been getting that message for a week strait. and sometimes i can log in but everythings screwy and what not. WHY CANT I SIGN IN?! Help me please and thanks :)

First thing is first. Try using a different browser to login to your facebook try firefox, googlechrome &/or opera. http://www.firefox.com http://www.google.com/chrome http://www.opera.com If that doesnt help try logging in on another computer. Ask your friends if things on your facebook have changed or if they have been reciving messages when you werent able to get logged in. Facebook is pretty secure as far as social networking sites go but there is always the possibility that someone has hacked your account. If you think that they have contact facebook. Hope it works out. ** EDIT*** I'm in the UK & facebook works fine for me. Where is everyone else having these problems.

this is affecting lots of people (myself included). I keep getting the login error and when i do manage to login my friend list is down to 0. this has been ongoing for the last few days and i'm getting really pissed off since facebook is how i talk with most of my friends.
