You can disable an account, but not completey delete it. Even if you disable it, it will still exist and be able be reopened by you. Go to the upper right while logged in Have the menu pop up and select Account Settings Go to Security in the left column Select Deactivate account(it written in blue at the bottom)

To disable your Facebook account you need to do the following: Go to Account Settings at the top right hand of the screen near Home. Click Account Settings Once you're in Account Setting on the left hand side of the screen you will see General, Security, Notifications..etc. Click on SECURITY At the bottom there will be a link that says Deactivate your account.
