How do you accept all friend requests?

Why can't anyone from Sicily accept my facebook friend requests?

• I recently visited italy and i live in america. I met a lot of people and i have facebook friends from Rome and Ischia, but no one from sicily has accepted my friend requests. it has been almost a month since ive been there and i know that my friends from Sicily want to be facebook friends with me. I watched one of them in italy send me the request and i received it through email but on facebook i can not accept it at all, it doesn't show up. I looked at facebook's help center and they said send a request back and i have to at least 5 different people. I still haven't gotten anything back and i know they go on facebook because their photos change. I really need to talk to them, how can i get them to accept my requests? or is it something to do with Sicily itself and connection with facebook? my friends from the netherlands who went with me too still have no reply back as well. Help!
