Is it illegal to upload pictures on facebook of people without their permission?

Is it illegal to upload photos of people on facebook with out who ever is in the picture's permission? I'm wondering because, last year my friend took a group photo of me and some of our friends. It's really embarrassing and now everyone can see it. I kept asking her to delete it since she asked me to delete a photo she didn't want that I put up so I did, but when I asked her she said no. I asked her again, and she complained that she keeps deleting photo's of me, and I haven't deleted any photo's of her, then she said that she's not deleting it because of our friends in it. So I asked if she could block or Cut me out of it. Still she said no. I wasn't worried about it after a while until I found out she thought it would be funny to befriend my Dad on facebook. I really didn't want him to see it since I already got in trouble for posting something I wasn't meant to so it kept me wondering on what would happen if he saw the picture. I asked her to delete a final time and she said yes. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago I found out she just moved the picture somewhere else in the album. I don't want to ask her again because I know the answer will be no. I keep thinking about what my Dad is going to say to me when he sees it. I don't know what to do. I know my friends are in it and that's a reason for my friend to keep the photo on facebook but I don't see why she can't cut me out of the picture. Any ideas?

Answer:
Well if you tag them in the photo and you have them as a friend... No it's fine.

She didn't have permission to post the photo, and thus she could be sued for infringement. You can try asking your friend to hide the photo from your dad, by making it private.
the terms and conditions of fb are that you can only upload photos that you took yourself and that you know the people, so they can upload it, but if you request it not to be there they should take it down, imo its not worth complaining to fb as thats kinda childish
No it not illegal cause it not copyright unless the pic was taken at your own house. You could like ask Facebook cause you are on the picture but I'm not sure how that work.
yes
If she took the photo in a public place, she can do whatever she wants with it. (Assuming it doesn't contain child pornography, images of other copyrighted works, or something unusual like that.)
only if what is in the pic is illegal
It might be drastic, but you could unfriend and block her, that way she won't be able to tag you in the photo, and your dad probably wouldn't see it. Is she really a friend if she embarrasses you by posting the picture and friending your dad?
