Why can't I install MSN live messenger?

Having trouble with Windows Live Messenger 2009?

  • I Downloaded Messenger 2009 awhile back to my laptop and it worked good for me up til a few days ago, IMO up til the other day I considered it the best Messenger yet. anyways I'm wondering what can I do to get it working again? every time I go to sign in I get this: "error 81000306 There might be a problem with your Internet connection. Make Sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Windows Live Messenger has made several failed attempts to sign you in. Your firewall may be blocking Windows Live Messenger from connecting to the service. Please review your firewall settings. See the retailer's instructions for more information." I've went to the Windows help center and did everything they said to do. I've asked other places and keep getting the same responses about going to Start then Control Panel then Add/Remove and Remove it.....and trust me when I say I've done that a thousand times it seems and would install again but still have the same problem. I've made sure my firewall is still working right and allowing MSN exception and it is. I do the troubleshoot and it says all everything is working fine. I've done virus scans and everything checks out fine. I cant understand it? The problem seems to be primarily on my laptop? Cause I downloaded the same program to my desktop and it works just fine there?...If only I could get signed in? any ideas, plans, help? would love to get Messenger 2009 working again on my laptop!
