I cant log in to MSN messenger because of firewall?

I keep trying to log in but another window pops up saying to change my firewall settings. Where are this firewall settings located at I cant find them, also dont know what kind of firewall I have. any computer experts outhere id be glad for the help = )
Answer:

go to start menu/ control panel/ windows firewall and under the exceptions tab, find msn works in xp, not sure bout anythign else Hmmm... i have no idea. do you have admin rights? ive heard of alot of problems with MSN because of that

Yeah like he said go to start menu and then control panel and windows firewall and if the exceptions dont work just turn it off while on msn
