Why the hell cant i sign into windows messenger live?

  • okay i've been having trouble signing into windows live messenger because everytime i click on sign in i get the message "signing into windows live messenger failed because the service is currently unavailable please try again later Error code:8e5e0247" what the hell? i uninstalled this several times before a month or two ago but i still cant sign in...why cant i...help please...

    I think that error occurs when the contact list data on your hard drive is corrupted. In that case, you should try deleting it. Don't worry, the data will still be attached to your email address, so you won't lose your contact list. The data will be back on your computer the instant you log on with your address again. I don't know which OS you're using, but I will be explaining the method when using Windows Vista. First, you need to close Windows Live Messenger completely. If you want, you can close it through the Task Manager so you know it is entirely closed. Then, go in the folder options (in Vista, this is under "Organize") and select "Show hidden files and folders". Finally, browse to "C:\Users\<Your user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft" and delete the "Windows Live Contacts" folder.
