Why is my MSN not working, but my Internet is?

Wireless Internet/MSN Connection Not Working?

  • My laptop was working fine up until recently, a couple of days ago my wireless internet connection began to play-up, my browser will work for the majority of the time, but it's being rather slow, MSN is the worst off, I can't stay signed in for longer than 10 minutes and it's beginning to annoy me, I've already tried - Restarting my laptop - Reconnecting my internet - Re-installing MSN - Resetting my laptop back to an earlier date, BUT it wouldnt allow me to do this. - All anti-spywear/anti-virus scans If anyone has any other ideas or tips on what I can do, please let me know. Also about a week before this began happening I managed to break the right hinge on my laptop, I dont know if this could have anything to do with it.

This is probably a connectivity issue between your computer and the Internet. You need to identify if the problem is between your computer and the wireless router in your home or if it is between your wireless router and the Internet. If it's between your computer and the wireless router then it's your responsibility to resolve. If it's between your router and the Internet then it would be up to your ISP to resolve. Firstly do a speed test using the following web site: http://www.speedtest.net Click on the location closest to you and wait for the speed test to be completed. You'll get an Upload and a Download result. Compare your result with the speed you expect to be receiving from your ISP. Download speed around 1 Mbit/sec or higher is about normal. Once you have ascertained the speed, if it is a lot less 1 Mbit/sec then you may have a problem and you'll need to do various tests to confirm if the problem is due to your router or if the problem is due to your Internet provider. Things you can do: * Ping your router and make sure if you are getting a good steady response. * Ping a web site on the Internet and see if you are getting a good steady response.

Well I have a laptop, and mine was playing up a few weeks ago, but I have a button at the very top of my keyboard, it's the 3rd one from the top left [F2], when i click that my wireless turns on and off, maybe if you have a button it might work then. Hope I helped. :)

Aimee.

Do you have an access point or router that is wired? because I think you need that to connect effortlessly. That is the only way I've know.
