How do I activate my youtube account?

How to create a stupid youtube account.?

I used my email made a username and yeah then I have to activate it but for some stupid reason it is only a GMAIL ACCOUNT and so I try to log in with my username but I cant I can only sign in with my gmail and then its says do you have a youtube account or not? if not create one now,so I click it and then it takes me to the beggining where I started to create a youtube account BUT is says my username is in use but it wasnt in the beggining,soooo can anyone please help me?????? I want to use the username but I cant because something is wrong with the stupid YOUTUBE! can ANYONE HELP ME???

Then simply go to forgot username and type in the username if you get a email then reset the password else its in use by sum1 else not you and you can create another username hope it helps
