Why won't movie maker save my file?

Windows Movie Maker will not let me save my video as a Movie File?

  • I try to save it as a Movie File so it converts to the .WMV or whatever, but it won't let me save. It just says this: "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again." The original source files are still on my desktop, the saving location IS available, and there is plenty of disk space. So what do I do? I had this problem one other time, so I said screw WMM and tried this thing called Pinnacle. But now I NEED WMM because it allows you to add effects to your clips unlike Pinnacle. I need those effects. What do I do? I need to be able to upload it to YouTube.

  • Answer:

You have to click on "publish movie" and then click for computer and then it will give you options. Usually "best for this computer" is WMV but double check. If it's not just find WMV in the options. Under File. Right below "Save Project As"
