Why do people want subscriptions on youtube so badly?

  • I would understand if a few dozen people felt that a high number next to "Subscriptions:" made them cooler, but it seems that everyone and their grandmother beg on youtube for subscriptions. What advantages do subscriptions on youtube exactly bring to the owners of the channels people subscribe to?

    You see those newly added commericals on youtube videos? Well you get paid to have them on your videos and the people who get the commericals are the people with alot of subscribers

Because if they become a Partner, YouTube pays them. I think I already have a lot of subscribers, but I don't want to be a Partner. I currently have 739 subscribers...

I think it gives the weak-minded individuals a sense that they are either popular, famous or at least have some "friends". It seems that nearly everyone is in pursuit of subs, views and friends. The goal of becoming a Partner seems to be a popular quest too. Lazy kids think that they will become rich for posting their moronic muses on video. They seem to think that they are some sort of sought-after entertainment for the world to enjoy. Guess what kiddies! Being accepted as a partner is no guarantee that you'll earn one dime. You need to be picked up by a sponsor and be commercially viable. Big companies aren't going to pay you to drone on and on about what's in your purse or how you love Tay-tay or whatever. Get over yourselves! Personally, I make videos for my own enjoyment and if someone else happens to like what I do and sub me... that's their prerogative. I don't really care. And I DON'T SUB BACK, because I don't really care about their videos. If somebody doesn't like my stuff, then they can take a long walk off a short pier. They can leave nasty comments... I don't care.
