Why can't I delete my youtube account?

I want to delete my current youtube account because I want a new username but with my same google account. I've gone to settings Manage account Close account Gave it a reason Why Clicked close When I click it, the little box closes and I'm left on the settings page Nothing happens... Pleasse help! Thankkkks(:
