you can use another program after u edit your clip to convert it to another type (and smallest size like flv) like "Daniusoft Media Converter Pro" this search in Google you will find it

It sounds to me that the problem isn't the programs but instead your ****** up videos or how you are splitting them apart. Talk to someone who actually knows computers or give us more information as to what it is you are exactly doing. because Windows Movie maker should be able to do it easily.

once i have encountered the same question as you,one of my friends told me a good way to solve this.at first you can download a software which called Video Download Studio.install it.then to the interface of convert,Add a video you want to cut.It is easy, you just drag a file to the window or click add-select a file from your hard drive. The video wil automatically play on the right window. 1. Remove black zone of your video. Black bars is the most annoying part of a video. Cropping frame size to remove any unwanted area in the frame using this video converter. It is easy, you can drag the line of the video to set the frame size and click convert. 2. Cut any unwanted part of your video. With trim function you can easily cut your video. Keep the video is playing at right windows of the software. PS:you can look for the software in http://www.downloadvideos-convert.com/ hope it can help you more or less!

im mrcleagles, (i edit my videos badly but on purpose) i use arcsofts mediaimpression, it was only $9.99 and it allows me to trim the clips, choose the thumbnail, turn the video sideways and merge. I am sure there is better online and free downloads but i don't know of any.
