How do you put a background on your youtube video?

Is it copyright to put music in the background of your youtube video?

  • Thanks :) ^^^

  • Answer:

Unless it's a song that you got off a list of songs that are not copyrighted or from youtube's audio swap then most likely yes. Even if you bought the CD or got the song from itunes, you don't own the music or the rights to the music. Youtube has a censor system that scans all videos that are uploaded - if the song matches in the database the audio could be muted or there could be an ad placed over the video and the audio could end up being muted down the line. There is no way to know.

Most music is copyrighted. It's a copyright infringement if you use someone else's song in your work. It's all explained right here in "Copyright Law for Idiots": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Gert7

yes it is, but youtube gets around it by advertising the song you use as a pop up bar at the bottom of your video.

it is if the music is owned by warner music group. they will disable the sound if it is. try putting music that has no connection with WMG. just see what record label the band is signed with before you put it to your video.

No i don't think so
