Can I make money off my gameplay/commentary videos on YouTube?

I been a part of YouTube for years uploading videos of Let's Plays and a few short machinima. I heard that I could make money off my own videos. After I sign in, I go to Settings and then scroll down to Monetization. It lists what kind of videos are eligible and what are not. One of the subcategories under Visuals are "video game footage". On the other hand, however, I heard from somebody that if I add commentary, it might be a difference maker. Is it possible for me to make money off my gameplay WITH commentary vidos on YouTube?
Answer:

You have to apply for YouTube Partnership, if u have a descent number of subscribers and ur videos get a few thousand views each time u upload, then sure they might accept u, it takes a while to review u channel and if u fail, u can apply again after 2 months of ur previous apply. Then they will guide u to what to do and then u earn money from google ads displaying on your vids and channel.
