How To Put A Picture on Youtube Chanel?

Ok, so I know how to set my default image if you can tell and I know how to set a picture for a background but I don't know how to put an actual picture on the channel, not as the background. This is what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/jennxpenn For hers it says follow me on twitter or like supermac18 how they have an image on their channel, but NOT as the background, Also Im not asking how to do a banner cause you have to be a partner,which I am not, Thanks!
