Would you still be protected on Ebay if you used Google Checkout?
-
Ok, here's the story: My friend bought a couple items totaling about $300 from the same seller & the seller however said they did not accept paypal and sent a payment request to my friends email from Google Checkout. My friend paid & has yet to recieve either of the items. She got a couple emails from the seller sent form Google Checkout saying that they had been shipped. She asked for the tracking #, but the seller has yet to reply. It's been almost a month & she's concerned that it could have been a scam, since the seller did not accept paypal & Google Checkout is listed in Ebay as payments NOT allowed. My friend was not aware of this at the time, but later researched it. Now the question is, if it was indeed a scam- will the Ebay Buyer Proctection still apply to her? Or would it not, since she paid through a system which is not permitted on Ebay? If she's not protected, is there any way for her to get her $ back? PLEASE, let me know as I am trying to help her out. BTW, she is planning to contact Ebay about this & was just wondering if anyone had any similar experience to this or knows if they would be able to do anything about it?

Answer:
Conditions under which a case can be filed under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy Buyers can file a case under the eBay Buyer Protection Policy when all of the following are true: You are an eligible buyer (see Buyer eligibility). You completed a purchase of an eligible item on eBay and submitted a case within 45 days from the date of payment. You purchased the item on eBay by using the "Pay Now" option, third-party checkout, or an eBay invoice. You paid for the item in one lump payment. Transactions involving multiple payments, such as a deposit followed by a final payment, are not covered unless the non-lump sum payment was due to an eBay or PayPal system requirement or policy. You used one of the following methods listed below: PayPal ProPay Moneybookers Paymate Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account Bill Me Later eBay Buyer Protection is not available if you have paid using payment methods not specified in this policy. Sorry your friend is not covered. :-(
