How do I get compact view?

I am unable to view a street view of GoogleMaps, I get a big black screen, how can I fix this ?

• Hello, For some reason, all of a sudden I am unable to view any street views of anywhere on Google Maps. I type in my address or any address for that matter and click to go to Street View and all I get is a big black screen where the street view should be. I have never had this problem before, and I am able to view any other internet pages without problem. Is there a problem with Google Maps right now or does anyone know of this problem and haw I can fix it ?..Is it a Java problem or Active X or anything like that ? and this is quite important to me right now as I am in Brisbane where all the floods are happening and I need to do some research. Somebody help, much appreciated

  Whatever the reason, Street View is only a series of photographs taken at at particular time. It is not a continuously updated view, like webcams. The view of my own house was taken four or five years ago, I know because I repainted the outside of the house in a different colour after the photos were taken. Addendum. I just checked Street View for Brisbane, it is working with a slight delay (black screen) while it loads.
