How does google search engine works?

Is This How The Google Search Engine Works.?

  • I'm just going to give a very basic explanation; If I was to create a website called "www.amazingjerseys.com". Now This site obviously sells jerseys. Though If I got the most hits out of any other soccer jersey site. (NOTE: Without using any sort of google Ads system) Would I still be on the top of the google search engine if A random kid or adult typed in on google "Soccer Jerseys"?? Cheers and Take Care! -Josh

You should also upload your sitemap to google. Take a look at http://www.google.com/webmasters/ for more detailed information. Other factors which Google considers are: 1. the page title 2. how old is the domain registration (new domains are liked less than old domain) 3. links referring to domain (back links). Keywords which are used in those links. This is pretty important, if not the most important indicator. 4. page content. google "likes" pages which have high utility, which in most cases means articles. Try to have at least one paragraph of content on your pages. This can be placed somewhere at the bottom of the page if necessary. The structure of the page content is important too. Follow good web design practices by using CSS, avoid tables for site structure. While you should try to get that one/two paragraphs of content at the bottom of your pages in terms of layout, in the HTML, they really should be at the top of the file. Keep HTML simple and to the point. Use CSS for styling. Javascript should ideally go to the bottom of the HTML page.

Hi Josh, Interesting question. The short answer is NO. If someone was to type "amazing jerseys" maybe you would crack number one. I think the reason is obvious. Google does take the URL into consideration, but not always. Meta Tags won't help either. If your home page started off with something like: "This site is all about Amazing Jerseys", then you have used your first useful key words. That may get you close to the top, provided the people searching entered "amazing jerseys" in their search. Further down the page, if you went on to say "Now these jerseys are really amazing!", you have used your second lot of key words. Don't overdo it however or you may be penalized. Google then considers relevance. Do you actually sell jerseys, or do you sell beer? Maybe the word "jersey" can be used throughout the site. Finally, Google looks for back links. How many sites discussing a similar subject refer their visitors to your site. Don't ask friends who have cat sites to put you in their link section for Google's sake, it won't count. Did I say finally? Well one more.... Change the content on your home page often. Google's spiders are always lurking, looking for new content. The more you change, the more Google will like you. And finally, finally: Promote your site indiscriminately by adding it to your signature in forums and your emails. Google doesn't look at emails, but your friends do. I say this because only 30% of my new visitors come via search engines. It's a lot, but it doesn't count for the remaining 70%.

an interesting answer above. the shorter version is no, no one would ever see your site, unless they were a close family member
