You'd need to create worthwhile content that your memebers couldn't find anywhere else for free. Direct Advertising - If you have enough traffic you can sell ads directly to relevant companies and that way you don't have to go through Google or any other ad service. You can charge your own rates so this can be very profitable if you do it right. Selling Links - If your website has a high enough PageRank you can sell links on your website on forums such as DigitalPoint.
