How can I get gmail and Apple mail to work together?

  • I have a gmail account and I use Apple mail. The problem is that when I use Apple mail, it downloads all my messages to my computer. When I try to access that gmail account from another machine with a web browser, it has archived everything, including messages that I have thrown into the trash. Is there a way to get Gmail and Apple Mail to work better, such that if I put an email from Apple Mail into the trashcan, it will do the same for the browser version of gmail?

    try searching in the mail/preferences click on the accounts tab and then click the gmail account and look in there for options. Gmail offers pop and IMAP. which one are you using? Apple mail has different options for the two.
