How do I fix this google chrome problem?
-
Lately I have had a lot of stupid computer problems because this laptop is an old pc piece of crap. Google chrome has been running really really slowly. Today I opened up chrome and a pop up appeared. At the top it says "chrome.exe - Corrupt File" and inside it says "The file or directory \Users\kim\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\ User Data\Default is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility." with a big red X next to it. I have no idea what "Chkdsk" is and when i searched and clicked on it it looked like it popped up but then it just disappeared. The only options on the corrupt file pop up are to press "OK" or exit, but clicking ether one seems pointless because it immediately comes back. So I really don't know what to do. Please help me.... I'm shocked I was even able to post this...

Answer:
You have to reinstall Chrome, You can't fix it. If you can't uninstall using Add or Remove Programs, delete the \Chrome folder in the Google folder. %USERPROFILE%\AppData\ Local\Google\Chrome (Remove space before Local) If you can't delete the folder on explorer you have open up CMD as Admin and type in del %USERPROFILE%\Users\kim\AppData\ Local\Google\Chrome (Remove space before Local) Then redownload Chrome from some other browser you have installed. http://www.google.com/chrome All your user data is in this folder, If you don't want to loose it back it up before uninstalling: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Google\ Chrome\User Data\Data\Default (Remove space before Chrome)

try to reinstall the program, it will surely solve your problem. and to run chkdsk go to properties of a hard disk partition, go to Tools tab, and press Check Now, under error checking menu and follow instruction, or simply open RUN dialog(win key + R) and type CHKDSK and press enter, and one thing chkdsk process took to much long process to complete, so do it if u have enough time

chkdsk is a windows utility to check HDD for errors and fixing. Delete History-Journal from \Users\kim\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\ User Data\Default. This should fix your problem. If not, create a new profile. Howto; follow this link http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=142059

Okay. Since Google Chrome is 'corrupted', try to download the installer by using another browser (for example, Internet Explorer). Then try to uninstall it, and then re-install it again.
